The man Jonathan Walters

Jonathan Ronald "Jon" Walters, an Irish footballer was born on September 20 1983 and currently plies his trade for Premier League club Stoke City where he wears the no. 19 jersey.

On Saturday 12th January Jon's Stoke City welcomed Chelsea to the Britannia Stadium for the Premier League week 22 fixture, a match bookmakers never imagined will be such a spectacle; a day the poor Potters striker will want to hurriedly put behind him for good.
Just as the first half was winding to halt the big lad who weighs 79 Kg and stands at 1.83 m tall acrobatically lunges and connects the ball with an impressive flying header but scores in his goal for an own goal.

And at exactly 17 minutes into the second half lightning strikes again as Jon rises high above and heads a second own goal into the back of his net.

After Frank Lampard's spot kick goal and a screamer from Eden Hazard, Jon had a chance to partly redeem his image after stepping up to take the spot kick after John Terry, returning from injury gave away a late penalty ; but instead blasted his spot kick sky high and over the bar. Chelsea eventually ran out 4 - 0 with Jon becoming only the fourth player in the Premier League to score two own goals.

This must have been Jon's worst day of his career. Definitely a horrible day at the office. The best way to silence his critics is to bounce back in the next match and show he truly knows how to find the back of the opponents net, as he has clearly shown us he's adept at finding the back of his own net. Chelsea needed to get back to winning ways emphatically and Walters was definitely the 12th player for the blues. With this feat by Walters, Ivanovic's blushes have been well spared as he's 2 fopers against Swansea were made to look like child's play

  3. Jonathan Walters is a very committed player and it was unfortunate things went horribly wrong against Chelsea. Remember Ivanovic of chelsea too had a very bad day at the office against Swansea giving away 2 goals.

Jonathan Walters bounces back to silence his critics with 2 goals against Crystal Palace. This is classic example of how to bounce back from adversity. Just get back up again and surge forward. Well done Jon!
